Frequently Asked Questions

Why “Lotus” Leadership?
The lotus flower is symbolic of growth, evolution and the human development process. The lotus flower begins as a small bud submerged in the mud and murky waters. The bud then grows toward the light, as it blossoms into a beautiful flower.

We hold the Lotus to represent women’s potential to emerge and blossom within organizational life. The lotus is a symbol of the transitional process, and how that process can successfully occur.

What is authority development?
Authority development is training to improve your capacity to demonstrate authority and work within your role of authority. A large part of authority development is understanding the impact and influence of power, and learning how authority dynamics affects people’s interactions. For some people this might mean developing authority that accompanies a high-level position, such as a CEO or CFO, for others this might mean developing the authority that every person has over herself.

Leadership development can be found all over. However, authority development is not as common. At Lotus Leadership, we believe that women’s’ roles of authority, and their ability or inability to be effective in those roles is a critical aspect of women’s success and happiness in their personal and professional lives. Unlike any other company, Lotus Leadership Institute specializes in the authority development of women and is dedicated to improving leadership through improving authority.

How is Lotus Leadership Institute different than all the other consulting companies out there?
We are not a consulting company, unless you consider consulting asking the tough questions and looking for sound answers. We work with the entire system. It is not just individual or organizational development, it is how the system works and functions together to create more effective leadership activities that drives our purpose.

Most other consulting companies come in, do a few things and then leave. We conduct regular “check-in” sessions to make sure you are continuing to enhance your ability to exercise leadership. We strive to embody our philosophies and not just offer advice.
